As of late, there have been a lot more people buying homes in more rural parts of the state, like the Shenandoah Valley in western Virginia, according to Ryan Price, head economist for the Virginia Realtors Association. "These rural areas have beautiful nature and move more slowly than many suburbs and cities." Price also says that dordle there is more demand for smaller towns like Harrisonburg, Waynesboro, Lexington, and Staunton because of chances to work from home or in a mixed way and the growing availability of speed internet.

"People are finding more value in the home sizes, land, and way of life, and it's still close enough to drive to work a couple of days a week," he says. Zillow says that the average home value in Staunton is about $289,000, which is more than $70,000 less than the average house value in the United States.

Kate Terrigno, a real estate agent with Corcoran HM Properties, says, "The Charlotte real estate market really does have something for everyone." Some of the most popular areas in the Queen City are Myers Park, Dilworth, Plaza Midwood, and South End. "These neighborhoods have a mix of old-fashioned charm, modern conveniences, green spaces, and easy access to the city center." She says Myers Park is a good place for a more private feel. South End is "a hub for professionals and is characterized by its trendy lofts, apartments, and modern townhomes," she says. Dilworth and Plaza Midwood are both easier to get to on foot.
